The event honored beloved American icon, humanitarian role model and legendary entertainer, featuring rare clips, and a panel of friends, his daughter, colleagues and admirers in conversation.

This event also highlighted Christmas at the Paley and the release of the Christmas with Danny Kaye DVD special collection of classic holiday-themed episodes from his Emmy-winning variety series, The Danny Kaye Show (CBS, 1963-67). This is also the launch of The Danny Kaye Centennial, a year-long celebration filled with activities and events highlighting Kaye’s unique talents that brought laughter and joy to multiple generations. Kids ages 8-16, had the opportunity to show off their choreographed or free style dance moves as well as record a dance video for online submission for a chance to compete in a dance off to air on Disney Channel in October 2011. The grand prize also included a special guest dance spot on “Shake It Up” plus the chance to meet the cast.
