At the event BBBSLA honored outstanding members of the Los Angeles community who inspire and portray positive role models for young people. Among those recognized were Sumner M. Redstone, Executive Chairman of Viacom and CBS Corporation, who received the Walt Disney Man of the Year Award; Dana Walden, Chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Television, received the Sherry Lansing Award; Roshon Fegan, actor, musical artist and producer, received the Rising Star Award; and long-time BBBSLA Guild member Kim Vamos was honored with the Trailblazer Award. This year, HBO received the most wins with 17 Creative Emmy Awards with CBS getting 13 and PBS 11. HBO’s “Game of Thrones” received six Creative Emmys and followed by “Saturday Night Live,” PBS Masterpiece miniseries “Great Expectations,” and Discovery Channel’s “Frozen Planet” each won four Creative Arts Emmys.
