Costume Ideas

Participants are encouraged to create eye-popping, hair-raising and spooky costumes within one of the following six categories:

  • Howl-arious – Shows the lighter side of Halloween with a take on a fun, funny or otherwise hilarious costume.
  • Spook-tacular – Get ready to frighten America by showcasing the most spine-chilling costume for all the ghosts and ghouls out there.
  • Mad Genius – Unique, original, innovative and never seen before. A knight in armor fashioned from bottle caps, bat wings made from old umbrellas, or a cardboard-box jetpack, the possibilities are endless. Display a costume unlike any other — show your Mad Genius.
  • Blast from the Past – Take a stroll down memory lane with a timeless costume. Memories, nostalgia and yesteryear brought to life. Show your take on great figures from before the 20thcentury or a retro 50’s sock hop get up, 60’s flower child or other “period” inspired costumes.
  • Animal Kingdom – Transform into a living creature from the past or present. Be a roaring lion, a school of jellyfish, a firefly, or a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
  • Everyday Stuff – We’re looking for the coolest refrigerator/freezer, remote control, mailbox, block of Swiss cheese, telephone and more.  Be creative and transform the ordinary into the extra-ordinary.

It’s not easy to be single in a big city or small city. We can get frustrated or we can look for humor. Half full or half empty? Which are you?

Do YOU Have the Next Great Idea for a Live Web Series?

Mingle Media TV Network, WebTV Workshop & Creative Labs Team Up to Find Best LIVE Web Series Idea

MMTVN Launches a New Contest Looking for the Next Best Live Streaming Web Series Idea with Studio Bundle Prize Pack from Creative Labs and Winner Selection from the WebTV Workshop of Hollywood

Mingle Media.TV announced today that beginning July 6, 2010 they will be looking for the next best live streaming web show idea and running a contest with a studio pack of products from Creative Labs going to the winner of the best idea. The web show ideas that are deemed the best by WebTV Workshop staff will receive the giveaway and will have their show  air LIVE on the MMTVN network while simulcasting LIVE on the iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and other smart phones and archived for on-demand replay through Blip.TV, Boxee, and Roku or as an iTunes podcast.

Mingle Media TV currently produces over 38 hours of live and episodic web TV interactive programming each week. MMTVN’s expert content providers create a social Web TV experience where the show hosts and audience engage in a real-time conversation on topics they are interested in. Advertisers benefit from an integrated ad approach, where the hosts talk about products, which later become meta-tagged content on the Internet as part of their sponsorship. This contest was created as a vehicle to promote the Mingle Media TV Network and Fan Favorite endorsed electronics products from Creative Labs.

Emmy-award winning co-founder of WebTV Workshop Diahnna Nicole Baxter and Producer Damian Pellicionne of the first professional WebTV Workshop School in Hollywood will be reviewing and selecting the winning idea submitted. More info on WTVW can be found at http://www.webtvworkshop.com.

“Many times our new show hosts are finding they need to purchase better broadcasting equipment,” says Stephanie Piche, founder and CEO of Mingle Media TV. “Creative Labs has been a brand we have trusted for new media video technology creation including live broadcasting, so we are excited to promote them for this contest.”

Contestants need to “like” the Mingle Media TV Facebook Fan Page, http://www.facebook.com/MingleMediaTVNetwork and then submit their web show idea to Mingle Media via the web form found at http://www.minglemediatv.com/ContestSubmission.html. The contest starts on July 6, 2010 and ends at midnight on July 31, 2010. No purchase required. Complete rules are available at the Mingle Media TV website and on their Facebook fan page.

Sing for a Chance to go to the Tony’s! (Now if only I could sing…) #TixToTonys

Loved seeing this contest sponsored by Macy’s for the upcoming 64th Annual Tony Awards. With so many people loving theatre (me) and Glee (okay, me too)… getting the opportunity to put a video up for a chance to win a trip to go to the Tony’s is a dream come true.

So here’s how it works… if you are older than the age of 13 and can upload video content of yourself singing one of the following Broadway tunes (my favorite is ONE from a Chorus Line) then you’re entered to win:

  • “96,000” – In the Heights
  • “Gimme, Gimme” – Thoroughly Modern Millie
  • “Good Morning, Baltimore” – Hairspray
  • “I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outa My Hair” – South Pacific
  • “The Lonely Goatherd” – The Sound of Music
  • “Maybe” – Annie
  • “One” – A Chorus Line
  • “Stars” – Les Misérables
  • “Ya Got Trouble” – The Music Man

So go get your voice warmed up and go upload your awesome video to www.CBS.com/Tonys now through May 27 when the fun starts with public voting ending on June 1 at 12:00 AM, ET. Phase II starts on June 3, when the five semi-finalists will be revealed and yes, more voting. The five finalists will also be flown to New York City to participate in a live sing-off in Macy’s Herald Square on Friday, June 11 – where a panel of Broadway stars and experts, along with the online votes, will choose two finalists who will win the opportunity to walk the red carpet at THE 64TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 13. The two finalists will also be decked out for the red carpet with a $1,000.00 gift card from Macy’s.

Finalists will be featured on The 64th Annual Tony Awards, Sunday, June 13  on CBS!!

What are you waiting for – go here! (Make your video first…)
