Interview with ABC’s Betrayal Star Henry Thomas #Betrayal

reblogged from RCR Article

We had a very enjoyable chat with Henry Thomas a few days ago about his role in the hot, new TV drama, Betrayal, which airs on Sunday nights on the ABC TV Network at 10 PM. A few weeks back, we spoke with one of his cast members, Stuart Townsend, and they both had the same comment about the series, that it takes time to unfold the complexity of the characters and they are pleased with how the series and fans are now reacting each week.

Another interesting part of our interview was that I felt like I knew Henry, like a son, as I watched him grow up from his unforgettable role in the Steven Spielberg classic “E.T.” which just had it’s 30th anniversary (oh, yikes, that kinda reflects on my age… but I’m only 29?!). I digress.

About Playing T.J.

We asked Henry about how he got the role on Betrayal. He tells us he initially read for another character but was called back to read for T.J. Henry said that he hadn’t thought about doing that character initially, he was trepidatious because he really didn’t want to see the character become a caricature.

What Do You Like About T. J.?

Henry told us that he likes that T.J. is struggling with himself, he’s at the controls and is clever and more capable than people give him credit for. He may make mistakes but Henry likes that his character is a “good guy” who is a loyal, good-hearted person.

Turning the Tables

Now that we’re seeing more of T.J.’s character in the past few episodes and his interactions with Stuart Townsend’s character, Jack, and the death of his “girlfriend” Brandy, we’re seeing how he starts to rebel against his support system of family and friends.

We asked Henry an off the wall question at this point in our interview – “what if your character overcame his disability and turned the tables on his father because of Brandy’s death?” and Henry started laughing and said, yes, that would be coming up in Season 6. (spoiler alert – LOL).

T.J. and Thatcher Argue About Brandy

But seriously, Henry tells us in terms of the devastating blow of losing Brandy, there are other things like Jack and his Dad talking down to his character T.J. and excluding him from family business that has pushed him to this point. He has had enough – and its this desperation of wanting to have complete control over his life even though he knows he has a disability, he is trying to deal with life in a healthy way.

It’s a bold move for him and threatens his relationships with his family.

Do You Like How Your Character is Developing?

Henry told us that he really works hard to not make his character T.J. a “rain man” type personality or caricature and is very protective of him. He says the writers are good about working with him on making sure that his character is treated with kit gloves and respect, so if there’s anything grim that he has to be a part of, he collaborates with the writers and then puts that scene in context with T.J. so he can handle whatever they throw his way.

Best Scene

Henry tells us the best scene for him so far has been when he shows up to talk to Carsten (his dad, played by James Cromwell) with Brandy and a ring and a plan.

Act or play music…

Finally, we ask Henry – what would he prefer to do full-time? Then, we had to add the caveat that he would be paid the same (he’s a hard negotiator when interviewed) and he said “I would do music, then it could be on my own time and be whenever I wanted and I could work from home.”

Well, Henry, we hope you get to do that some day – but we hope it’s several years from now after your character T.J. has turned the tables after being healed by some new medical procedure in season six of Betrayal.

About Tonight’s Episode

“It’s just you and me now…” – Jack whisks Sara away for a romantic road trip, even as the FBI is tracking him down. As T.J. is unable to cope with Brandy’s death or find his place at Karsten Allied, his reckless behavior turns dangerous. Karsten decides to settle the score with Jack by making a deal with an unlikely ally, on “Betrayal,” TONIGHT, DECEMBER 8 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Interview with Andy Garcia for the Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie: Christmas in Conway #Trailer #Song #ABC #HallmarkHOF #Sweepstakes #ChristmasInConway

Repost from the RCR Article Christmas in Conway’s Andy Garcia Will Grab Your Heart and Make this Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie a Classic

We spoke with Andy Garcia after viewing a screener of Christmas in Conway, where he plays the husband, Duncan Mayor to Mary Louise Parker’s character, Suzy, who is the love of his life. The movie is an emotionally charged one where Garcia plays a hard-working, determined man who says little to those around him, all with a mission in mind for his wife, one last grand gesture that shows his love for her. Don’t miss the trailers below and the original song that is performed by Andy for the movie!

The Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation of Christmas in Conway, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2013 (9:00-11:00p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Our Interview with Andy… and he sings (below)

We all know Andy as an Oscar®, Emmy® and multiple Golden Globe® award nominee for movies like The Godfather Part III and For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story but he’s genuinely an artist as he shares why he made this film.

We asked Andy what drew him to this project? He told us that he was struck by the idea of this romantic notion where a couple would be in this place in their lives, at the end of her life (his wife), and his character challenges himself to get it done, the final gesture was beautiful.

When asked how he got into character for this role, he told us there were no tricks, it’s the craft, you have to live truthfully in this imaginary place created for you to tell the story.

Working with Mary-Louise Parker: Andy tells us that she was magnificent to work with. They shot the movie in 20 days and didn’t have a lot of prep-time and their relationship was very spontaneous in that they felt a kinship. Andy tells us there wasn’t much time to establish the bond they had to portray in the movie but from the moment he brings her home, walking her in the house in the opening scene, they showed up and executed.

Working with Cherie Oteri: Andy said when he heard she would be int he film he was excited because he knew she could bring levity to the role she was cast in and was very fun to work with.

We asked Andy what he liked about his character, Duncan Mayor? He told us that being a family man himself, being married for 35 years, helped him prepare for the role as he tells us that you will do for the person that is the greatest love of your life what you have to, especially if you are about to lose them.

His character feels the pain and suffering but doesn’t show it to his wife, everyone sees it, but she sees his love and enjoyment of her company. His character doesn’t want help, or want to ask for help, he wants to do everything for his wife.

Andy tells us that on set they were focused at the task at hand even though there were times where they laughed a lot there was a great ease and enjoyment in making the film, even though they had to make it look like winter while suffering the humidity and heat of a North Carolina summer. The people in the town they shot this movie in were very hospitable.

We got to chat with Marcia Gay Harden (ex-wife #1) and Michaela Watkins (ex-wife #2) of  Bradley Whitford’s character who is now married to wife #3 Malin Akerman on the new ABC comedy, “Trophy Wife.”

Now this show might sound like a stretch for a blended family with ex’s but look around, there are many, many families like this and some of the ex’s are nightmares to deal with and some have boundary issues and then there’s the new, cute wife, what to do with her? Let’s just say that you’ll be able to relate to this tongue-in-cheek comedy as the family members learn to be a “family” united even though they may make some mistakes along the way.

About Trophy Wife Series airs on Tuesday Nights at 9:30/8:30 C

Malin Akerman is Kate, a reformed party girl who marries Brad (Bradley Whitford) after meeting him at a karaoke bar. He comes with a lot of baggage though: three manipulative kids and two ex-wives (Marcia Gay Harden and Michaela Watkins) who, suffice it to say, don’t approve of Kate. Shocking!

Mistresses Premiere’s Tonight on ABC, Here’s How to Tweet Chat with Cast and Read our Interview with Jason George

reblogged from The Red Carpet Report

Mingle Media TV and Stephanie Piche from the Red Carpet Report spoke with Jason George, who plays Dominic Taylor, a charming, competitive attorney who works with Savi Davis, played by Alyssa Milano, today about the premiere of Mistresses airing at 10 PM on the ABC Network.

We’ve watch three of the episodes of this new series and have to say that it’s really not what most people think, all of the characters are not “cheaters” but they are all characters that we believe are relatable in their context. Oh, and if this is the first time you’re reading the Red Carpet Report, we don’t share spoilers and are true believers in art is subjective, we get the story, not the gossip. So with that said, below you’ll find a recap of our interview PLUS how to LIVE Tweet tonight with the cast during the premiere, yes, we’ve included their Twitter handles. Before we get started, watch this brief clip and you’ll get a glimpse of Jason then check out our interview below.

Mistresses Trailer

Now that you’ve seen a bit of Jason in action on the set of Mistresses, here’s our interview with him from earlier…

Q. Jason, how did the Mistresses find you?

A. (Laughter…) Yes, I get what you mean, it was pretty random. We were at a birthday party with my kids and I was talking to Rina Mimoun (executive producer of Mistresses) who mentioned she was interested in me for Mistresses but thought I was under contract for another series when my wife said “he’s available.”

Of course, who wouldn’t want to be on this show, playing opposite Alyssa Milano who is ‘mad smart and fun’.

Q. I’ve watched 3 episodes of this series and you an Alyssa have different chemistry with the roles from professional to personal, how do you get into character and play such convincing roles?

A. There’s nothing more fun than to come to set and immediately have a “trust” relationship between you and the actors whom you collaborate with. It’s been great to show up and all’s good on set, when in real life that trust could take a long time to develop… Everyone is professional and easy with each other.

Plus we have a great script and my character is a flirt and Alyssa’s character is safe because she’s married, so its a way of teasing her. But my character pushes harder because she can take it for what it is, flirting until one day when it means something.

There are worse jobs (laughter). But Alyssa is very professional and knows what she’s doing so we have found a rhythm and started dancing and just go with it.

Q. What do you like about your character?

A. He’s a player, but he really isn’t, there’s more substance there, he’s not the player people think he is. He is chosing women that interest him and he wants what’s best for Savannah, maybe the best thing is me? For them, it’s not just a bootie call, there is a selfless element and he won’t go there if its gonna be a problem for Alyssa’s character.

Q. How are you like your character in real life?

A. I am a flirt, my wife will agree, but when we first met, it wasn’t like that. It was back in college at the dorms and I had been having fun with and ran out in the hall and saw her and threw her over my shoulder like King Kong and then threw her on my bed in my dorm room. There I was standing over a beautiful woman (who, I had never spoken to before) and thought, what do I do now, either kiss her or back out like a knucklehead… It was our first encounter, and I backed out. About a year later, I went up to her and asked if she remembered me and asked what would have happened if I kissed you? She said, I could have saved a year!

Mistresses can be a “playbook” for men, (laughs) when you have an attraction, you need to know which way to go. I think this series will be relatable for both men and women.

We really enjoyed speaking with Jason, he’s genuinely a great person and we wish we could have had more time with him, but we promise you won’t be disappointed if you tune in tonight at 10 PM on ABC to watch him and Alyssa Milano (and the other cast members).

Not that we think you shouldn’t tweet to the cast tonight but we recommend DVRing the show too (or you can also watch it tomorrow on Hulu or ABC.com – links below). Don’t miss a thing!
