Watch for Peyton and Karan on the Disney Channel Tonight

Parents and “Jessie” fans will be excited to see Peyton and Karan in new episodes on Disney’s highly acclaimed short-form series “Pass the Plate” which originally aired in 2008. The series is designed to broaden kids’ understanding between nutritional food and how it is grown and used throughout the globe. Parents will enjoy watching the episodes with their children and engage them in conversation. We watched them here at MMTVN and learned some new things that changed our views on bees and goat ranching… if only we could get some goats! Be sure to watch for these episodes which are about 3 minutes in length, you’ll be glad you did!

Sneak Peek Below

Be sure to tell Karan how much you liked seeing him on Twitter and shout out to Peyton on hers. Check out the latest on the series Jessie on the Disney Channel here.

Tomorrow is the Season Opener for the New “The Bachelor” on ABC Now You Can Love Monday’s Again!

Sean Lowe, The Bachelor

Sean Lowe, The Bachelor

Ladies, get ready for another exciting season of The Bachelor.

Most of us remember, heart-throb, Sean Lowe from the season of The Bachelorette with Emily Maynard, who passed on “the perfect man” eliminating him and shocking not only Sean but all of us watching.

Now, it’s Sean’s turn to find love and we believe he has his hands full with this group of single ladies.

We’re excited to say that we got to speak with Sean about the next edition of ABC’s hit romance reality series, “The Bachelor,” and want to recommend that our Red Carpet Report fans tune in on Monday, January 7, 2013 for the season opener… it’s one you won’t want to miss!

In case this is your first time hearing about the new Bachelor, Sean, here’s some deets: he’s 29 years old and is a successful entrepreneur who lives in Dallas. He’s very close to his family, and a true Southern gentleman. He’d also like to have a big family and is very focused on family values as demonstrated by his relationships with his parents and sister.  Sean is 6’3″ and attended Kansas State on a full football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He started in finance and then moved into the insurance industry but now he is the proud owner of an upscale, custom furniture business. Sean loves to camp, wakeboard, dance, be outdoors, go to concerts and have fun with his two dogs, Lola and Ellie.

First Impressions – The Bachelor

Now that you know something about him, you can size up the single ladies as they try to make their BEST first impression Sean. But before you do, check out this fun video of past Bachelor shows and some of the memorable first impressions that happened on the show.

Our Chat with Sean

Operator: Your next question comes from Stephanie Piche from Red Carpet Report.

Stephanie Piche: Hi Sean. I really enjoyed getting to know you on The Bachelorette, and we’re excited to see what happens this season. My question for you is, how many rules are you going to break this time around?

Sean Lowe: You know, I’ve never been one to really conform to rules that are set, so you’re going to see me break quite a few rules, and I did The Bachelor for a specific reason. It was to find the love of my life, and I feel like there were certain points in the season where I couldn’t follow the rules. I had to follow my heart as opposed to the rules, and so I think you’re going to see me breaking quite a few rules this season.

Stephanie Piche: OK. And, what’s the best advice your parents have given you about participating in this process?

Sean Lowe: You know, my parents know me better than anyone else, and they told me, just be yourself and stay true to who you are and then, you know, of course, stay in prayer and everything’s going to work itself out. And, they trust me and they trust my judgment and so they knew that, you know, I would follow my heart, and they knew that I’d represent the family well and ultimately make the decision that’s best for me.

Stephanie Piche: Great… And, one quick question. What’s your pet peeve, stuff that you’ve found with this whole process with these ladies?

Sean Lowe: Oh, biggest pet peeve. Like I said earlier, it’s almost inevitable for this to happen, but it always irritated me when girls would get caught up more in the drama and then they would lose focus on the real reason that they were there. And, you know, of course, I want them to focus on the relationship that we’re developing and not focus on all the other BS going on with the other women in the house.

Stephanie Piche: Of course. Thanks so much and good luck.

Sean Lowe: Thank you very much.

Mirror Mirror AKA Who’s Really In Charge?

Mirror Mirror - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Mirror Mirror - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

It’s always fun to be invited to go to screeners to see movies that you really want to see. Yes, I really wanted to see Mirror Mirror, and as it starred Julia Roberts, Nathan Lane, Armie Hammer and Lilly Collins and of course, wanted to see one of my childhood fairy tales retold with a fresher look and stronger female in Snow White? Not that I am looking to compare this to Once Upon a Time on ABC TV, but it is 2012 and we should be able to change things up a bit.

This movie is fresh, funny and magical granted the handsome Prince Alcott, was a little more sensitive than I like my men, but for a remake on an old favorite, I can say that I found it entertaining and I especially enjoyed the musical pieces.  If you see the movie pay attention to the song in the ballroom scene with the  dance number featuring Lily singing, dwarves dancing and the entire cast joining in, called “I Believe in Love“. (You can get the album on Amazon).

I will admit to seeing anything with Julia Roberts… and Nathan Lane. Now I will also add Armie Hammer and Lily Collins.

Mirror Mirror launched overseas in Europe on March 15 and is officially releasing in the US Friday, March 30, 2012.

How You Can Make the Most of #WebSeriesChat on Twitter

Why #WebSeriesChat?

Over a year ago Patrick from Slebisodes and Stephanie from MingleMediaTV decided to host a weekly chat to help bring together independent filmmakers, writers, actors, fans, producers of web series to share ideas and build community.

Initially, we were pulling in guests which was really fun to meet people outside of the LA web series world and then we would have topics from funding to marketing to budgets. But sometimes it gets old. We have always been open to suggestions from our community and have supported community events from festivals to Celebrate the Web.

With that said – there are some rules of the road that we all should follow. Here’s the business side of my brain along with feedback we’ve seen from others in the community who have tried to join the chat but have found it somewhat disjointed at times.

We are not “Cat Herders”

  • We announce via Twitter and Facebook the topic of the day before #WebSeriesChat starts, we also tweet it during the chat – so @MingleTVNetwork @Slebisodes or searching on #WebSeriesChat in Twitter will provide you with what we are talking about for that week.
  • If we have an invited guest, we encourage you to join in the conversation and ask questions about their series or expertise.
  • We ask that you keep OFF TOPIC conversations off #WebSeriesChat during the hour – you are free to chat with anyone on Twitter – but keep the #WebSeriesChat hashtag off if it is not related to the current topic
  • We ask that you keep your promo tabled until the end of chat as the last 5 minutes are dedicated to self-promo.

Respect your fellow creator.

Twitter is not like a BlogTalkRadio or Stickam show where the hosts can hold the conversation / topic without being interrupted by the chat room. In a Twitter chat – your off-topic tweets are in the stream. These tweets to other participants are a distraction and are disrespectful to the guests who have agreed to join the chat and share their expertise for that brief time period.

  • If you don’t like the conversation topic – then don’t use the #WebSeriesChat hashtag and hold your own conversations separately.
  • If you don’t like the conversation topic – and have a topic you’d like covered – tweet to @Slebisodes or @MingleMediaTV and suggest it for coverage for a future #WebSeriesChat session – that way your topic will get the attention it deserves
  • The weekly #WebSeriesChat is hosted by @Slebisodes @MingleMediaTV and we’re the hosts and the leaders of the “show” – so respect us, the guests and or the topic selected for the week – we’re trying to support the community and it is not all about YOU when it’s time for the weekly #WebSeriesChat on Twitter – it’s about the topic/guest.

With that said – we are huge supporters of the Web Series community – we provide services to many web series by promoting their series through listings and hosting on our respective sites. We are panelists at festivals and industry events and have made the weekly chat something we didn’t give up on like so many others before or during us – it’s not easy to promote and hold chat every week – and we do it. We also are trying to bring NEW people into chat so you are exposed to other ways to launch your series successfully.

You may agree that sometimes the topic has been beaten to death over and over  in chat and nothing new is shared – hence the need to come up with new and fresh topics that are planned by @Slebisodes & @MingleMediaTV for that next #WebSeriesChat.

There are other weekly chats from other industries on Twitter and they are very focused and the audience is very in-tune with what is going on for that week. We want #WebSeriesChat to be fun and engaging – but if you aren’t happy with the topic, you don’t have to stay and disrupt it – we won’t hold it against you.

We want to make this chat something that helps all involved with web series meet new people, learn new things and we always welcome your suggestions AHEAD of TIME to making it even better.

Thanks for participating and supporting the weekly chat.

Review: IRIS from Cirque du Soleil – A Journey Through the World of Cinema

We were excited to come out and cover the Red Carpet event for IRIS at the Kodak Theatre as well as be invited to come to a press preview of this new show a few days later.

At the Red Carpet event, we got to speak with Danny Elfman about the challenges he had with creating the music for IRIS:

We also spoke with the writer/director Philippe Decoufle – he talks about the journey over the past 3 years in developing this show:

Here’s a video clip that shows a little of the amazing choreography of a Cirque du Soleil Show – IRIS “on the Rooftop”

Transforming the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles for IRIS

Our Review of IRIS

IRIS - Cirque du Soleil

IRIS - Cirque du Soleil

There are 23 Cirque du Soleil shows around the world, i’ve seen seven of them (La Nouba, Mystere, Dralion, O, Criss Angel Believe, Kooza) and as of tonight, Iris, their newest show. Their shows are all awesome, by the very definition of the word, though to varying degrees. O, I saw in it’s 3rd year, and to this day I have never seen anything as monumental. The other shows I’d seen, all were second year and beyond, all very well greased machines, it was nice to finally see a freshman Cirque show like Iris, because there were still a few visible seams and loose strings here and there.

Tonight’s show, one of the trapeze artists missed a mark, and was stranded midair for a couple of beats, when she got back on her swing, she sat out for a little, leading me to think she had injured herself midair, but just then she rejoined the other aerialists for the rest of the routine. That was the most noticeable moment.

Other than a few shaky human pyramids, and a landing here or that that didn’t exactly Stick It. I knew there was no imminent danger for anyone, and when the spotters came out for a few of the more ambitious acrobatic feats, it was obvious that the performers were running at the edge, but weren’t 100% hitting their stride, that made Iris the most human Cirque show i’d ever seen. And I liked that.

IRIS - Cirque du Soleil

IRIS - Cirque du Soleil

Though some of the scenes felt too long. The running story was also left to the wayside a bit. The first half, I found myself analyzing the characters and their symbolism in ‘The World of Cinema’ and i had to stop, because i was obviously over thinking it.

The costumes were great, of two of the clowns, one reminded me of a young Steve Martin, dressed like a Matador in a Tuxedo, and another reminded me of Martin Short, just in a dance bit though. Though the clowns disappeared in the messy cacophonous numbers that the second act was full of, where everyone was on stage, huge choreographed dance numbers being upstaged by aerialists, I was sitting in the Mezzanine and didn’t know where to look. This works well for Believe, but the key to a Magic show is misdirection, which was an unfortunate side effect for Iris. Misdirection. The show progresses from the early days of cinema, with the props evolving, too subtly. But the tone changes with the show as well. Like the trapeze artist, the show missed a mark.

But after a few weeks of notes, i have no doubt that everyone will find and maintain their footing. I’d like to see the show again in six months to see how it progressed, as it was obviously still finding itself.

Dreams Do Come True in Walt Disney Movies, You’ll See in “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”

Growing up the magic of the movies was something we all looked forward to from those cliff-hangars and twists, the talking dogs, the magical cats, and they all drew us in and looking forward to watching them on the silver screen.

walt disney studios motion pictures

Once again, Walt Disney Studios does not disappoint with this new tale about a couple who long for a family but cannot have one, so they dream about what it would be like, what having a son would be like. Jennifer Garner is wonderful in this scene with her movie husband as they “live” the wishes they write down for their future in “The Odd Life of Timothy Green.” In this clip below, Academy Award®–nominated director/writer Peter Hedges (“Dan in Real Life,” What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”) delivers the magic we’re talking about with this story written by Ahmet Zappa.

Watch this clip to get a feel for their dreams and what comes from them.

Watch for the movie “the Odd Life of Timothy Green” coming next summer and meet young Timothy (CJ Adams) when he shows up on the Green’s doorstep one stormy night, and prove to Cindy and Jim Green that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life’s greatest gifts.

Hot off the press! Mingle Media TV Network Announces Expansion into Indie Web Series Productions, Branded Entertainment

MMTVN’s expansion will bring more web series creators together to learn about the business of web series, help produce new series and bring brands in to sponsor shows and build engaging campaigns to new audiences, no matter what screen they watch.

Announcing the Expanded Mingle Media TV Network

Announcing the Expanded Mingle Media TV Network

Online media and interactive web TV network, Mingle Media TV, announced today that they have added three new divisions to their Indie entertainment community. The new divisions are focused on production of web series, branded entertainment and red carpet coverage, building awareness of Indie web series with a new weekly screening LIVE broadcast and support for creators, and the business of web series division to support the business side of producing web series. Mingle Media TV is currently the only community that offers live and produced web TV shows along with celebrity reporting with their Red Carpet Report.

Mingle Media TV Network (MMTVN) celebrated its first year in operation on February 8, 2011, and currently broadcasts 70 shows on their site, has produced over 800 video interviews from the red carpet including the Oscars and over 1,500 hour long web TV talk shows. MMTVN distributes their content using social media networks from Facebook to Twitter and syndicates video distribution to the most popular destination sites from YouTube to Daily Motion. They also publish their video content to streaming media set-top boxes such as Boxee and Roku.

The planned expansion will bring the content that is hosted on MMTVN to more platforms such as Google TV, and expanding their current offering for produced content to Apps via Apple, Blackberry and Android formats. MMTVN’s LIVE stream partner, Stickam, has Apps for watching and chatting in real-time which have become quite popular for viewing live web shows along with Facebook and Twitter integration to reach the audience where they are most comfortable watching. Other planned tools will be an integrated program guide with show reminders, check-in and loyalty programs beyond the current Clicker.com integration, and a web series directory and monthly calendar for events, show schedules, premieres and meet-ups around the globe.

MMTVN’s production services expansion will bring the resources together for both creating and marketing Indie projects including bringing together a group of creators, writers, producers and actors who will work together on projects. Red Carpet coverage for hire outside of the traditional events that MMTVN covers will be monetized and the launch of a new daily savings coupon program with a video component called, Daily Savings TV will start across the country.

The Business of Web Series division is both a boot camp and a consulting arm where web series creators can learn how to create business plans and market their projects, how to promote and get publicity along with monetizing their series through sponsorships and product placement deals. MMTVN will offer these services to series that are hosted on their site as part of a partner program being released later this week. Series creators who are not hosted on MMTVN can subscribe to these services through a program fee or hourly consulting fee.

“Mingle Media TV Network is focused on bringing Indie entertainment to the audience, not the screen,” said Stephanie Piche, CEO and Executive Producer of Mingle Media TV. “We support Indie creators by helping them continue to disrupt traditional entertainment and take advantage of the growth of video being watched on all screens. Our goal is to bring in brand sponsors who are looking for niche audiences and want to connect on a more personal level as part of a social TV experience.”

Mingle Media TV has successfully used traditional and social media marketing techniques to build and grow awareness for their community online. Many of the MMTVN shows have national sponsors that benefit from both the live web show audience on Mingle Media TV to the creators own community where daily mentions, blog posts and recommendations are authentic and powerful. Mingle Media TV founder, Stephanie Piche, believes it’s important to bring back sponsorships and use the conversation that social networks offer to build awareness and commerce. Piche has over twenty years experience in bringing startups and products to market and has created and managed branded campaigns with great success and has seen first hand how the power of investing in content not ads builds a brand name authentically and exponentially.

Find out more about these new divisions by going to the Mingle Media TV Network’s new corporate umbrella site at http://www.minglemediatvnetwork.com. If you’re interested in contacting MMTVN for more information, please visit the website and submit a request via email or by phone.
