For the first time ever, The Academy Awards Envelope gets a couture makeover by designer, Marc Friedland, with an Oscar step & repeat pattern lined inside and a gold on gold exterior, this is going to cause a but of Envelope Envy with past winners. Kristyn Burtt also spoke with Brad Oltmanns & Rick Rosas, the accountants from Price, Waterhouse, Coopers that are charged with tabulating the votes from the Academy Members and are the only people who know who the winners are, before the they are read off the envelope. They also shed a little light on their process and dispel a hollywood rumor. Behind The Red Carpet (Day 6) : MTVu Correspondent Contest

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and mtvU, MTV’s 24-hour college network, today announced that Luz Pena and Philip Robibero from Hofstra University are the Grand Prize winners for the “Oscars Correspondent Contest.” The three finalist teams were brought to Los Angeles, where they have been covering Academy Awards pre-events, including the Animated Feature Symposium, Foreign Language Film Award Nominees Photo Op, the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Symposium, and the Governors Ball preview. As part of their prize, they have earned a spot on the red carpet for the 83rd Academy Awards® arrivals tomorrow, February 27, and will have access to the backstage press rooms and the Governors Ball. Oscar® coverage from the winning team will be posted on mtvU.com and MTVNews.com the week of February 28. MTVU has had a competition for the past three years for a correspondent spot on the red carpet of the Oscars. The teams then have a few days to make a video showing why they should be chosen. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences then flies out the three finalist teams to Hollywood, and announce who will be on the red carpet, and attending the Official Oscars after party, The Governor’s Ball. While the other finalists get Press bleacher seats and go to the viewing party of the Oscars, at the El Capitan Theatre.Kristyn Burtt had been contacted via twitter by one of the contestants, early in the competition, asking for pointers.
