Highlights of the evening included Renowned Illusionist, Comedian, Musician and Author Penn Jillette as Host of the 28th Annual Ceremony, Arnold Shapiro Received the Career Achievement Award, Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film Program and Fund Received the Pioneer Award and David France Received the Jacqueline Donnet Emerging Documentary Filmmaker Award.

For almost three decades, the International Documentary Association (IDA) has produced this annual celebration to recognize the most groundbreaking documentary films of the year. In addition to honoring both individuals and organizations for outstanding achievements in documentary filmmaking and contributions to the field, the IDA Documentary Awards also recognizes the year’s best documentary productions.
