Disney Channel’s “Good Luck Charlie” Premieres Sunday May 6th with Make Room for Baby & a New TV Mommy Blogger

"Good Luck Charlie" on the Disney Channel

“Good Luck Charlie” on the Disney Channel

Season 3 kicks off on Sunday Night on the Disney Channel as the Duncan family from “Good Luck Charlie” adjusts to the news of another new baby arriving and the changes from needing a new home to mom Amy leaving her full-time job to be at home become the focus of the start of the season.

“Good Luck Charlie” stars include Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Mia Talerico and Eric Allan Kramer and Raven Goodwin, Shane Harper and Micah Williams return to reprise their roles as Ivy, Spencer and Emmett.

It’s more diapers, bottles and onesies for the Duncans as they prepare to welcome the newest member of their family. Baby Duncan, whose name was chosen by more than 25 million votes worldwide on www.DisneyChannel.com.

We got to speak with Leigh-Allyn Baker from her vacation in Paris earlier this week. One of the fascinating things we found it is that the series is very popular with kids and tweens ranking #2 in those categories. We asked Leigh-Allyn why she thought it was so popular and she told us that the show has something for everyone to identify with, “even though kids roll their eyes, they want to enjoy doing something with their family” and watching “Good Luck Charlie” is a way to bring families together for an entertaining event.

Leigh-Allyn Baker of "Good Luck Charlie" on the Disney Channel

Leigh-Allyn also told us that she has some similar personality traits with her character, Amy, which include being outgoing, fun, theatrical and even to some extent her characters desire for stardom, that some times backfires.

Being a mother herself, Leigh-Allyn and the other cast members get to offer input to the producers and writers for character development and ideas for upcoming shows. Leigh-Allyn likes how the creators pay attention to who the actor is and mixes the character and personality together to make their performance realistic and entertaining.

One of the interesting things that happens this season is that Amy starts a new venture – a blog and becomes a “mommy blogger.” We are excited to see this role on the Disney Channel as there  are millions of mom’s out there who are blogging about their families and many of them are making a living at it as well.

Some more interesting facts about Leigh-Allyn: her birthday is April 3rd and she has a 3-year-old son and is pregnant with her second child. Her son’s favorite show is “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” along with “Doc McStuffins” on the Disney Channel (of course!).

You may also recognize Leigh-Allyn from her roles on “Will and Grace” and “Charmed” as well as numerous other roles in television and movies.

“Good Luck Charlie” was created by Phil Baker and Drew Vaupen (“Suddenly Susan” and “What I Like About You”) and is executive-produced by Baker, Vaupen and Dan Staley (“Cheers,” “Love & Money”).

New episodes of “Good Luck Charlie” air SUNDAYS on Disney Channel. The series is a production of It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc. and carries a TV-G parental guideline. Click here for more info on this show or like the series on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GoodLuckCharlie.

Mom’s Go Digital

Moms Go DigitalJust like “Good Luck Charlie’s” mom, Amy, going digital as a blogger, many other mom’s have done this chronicling their families adventures and connecting with other moms around the globe.

Want to know more about digital moms and “mommy bloggers” plus get to meet some “real-life” digital moms who are using the Internet as their platform, come out to the Digital LA “Mom’s Go Digital” event at The Mom’s Bar in Santa Monica, Tuesday, May 8th. Click here for more information.

Cincinnati Bengals Tight End - Reggie Kelly

Cincinnati Bengals Free Agent Tight End Reggie Kelly, one of 32 current and former NFL players recognized as Insightful Players will make an encore appearance  on the new weekly Insightful Player online show on MingleMediaTV tonight May 31 at 7 p.m. ET. Mingle Media TV produces and broadcasts over 40 hours of web series and event coverage each week.  Kelly was well-received as the debut guest on the show back in April and was asked back for another appearance.

Chrissy Carew, a Master Certified personal and business coach based in Nashua, NH founded Insightful Player™ in April 2010 with a vision of providing an answer to a crucial worldwide calling for messages of hope that provoke positive actions.  “Reggie did such a great job on our first show and we received so much positive feedback that we wanted to have him on again as soon as possible,” said Carew.

The Insightful Player™ team members, like Kelly, are individuals that believed in themselves and relentlessly pursued their most far-reaching dreams, which resulted in a career in the National Football League. The Insightful Player.com website features the inspirational stories of 32 current and former NFL players, each of whom overcame great obstacles and hardships to become not just fine athletes, but through their values and their life experiences, became extraordinary individuals that serve as an inspiration to us all.

Kelly will discuss his new book “Prepared” with Barton Green. From the first backyard training camp, the Garden of Eden, to the grassy scrimmage line of an NFL faceoff, Reggie Kelly explores the timeless lessons that shape the three ever-developing parts of mankind: the Body, Mind and Spirit.

The short-version of Reggie Kelly’s Insightful Player story is available on InsightfulPlayer.com. The full-length version will appear in the Insightful Player book that will be published by Morgan-James Publishing this summer.

Following is an excerpt of Kelly’s story on Insightful Player.com:

Reggie, called “Reverend” by his teammates, grew up in Aberdeen, Mississippi, population 6,000. He was raised by loving yet strict Christian parents. When he gave his life to Christ as a young boy he was concerned what other kids would think. Reggie said, “I decided to put Christ on the back burner, all for the sake of popularity.  By the time I got to high school I did whatever I could to fit in and this included partying and drinking. I wanted to be the ‘big dog.’  I actually believed I was really cool.”

What he didn’t realize was that he wasn’t being true to who he really was. This created emptiness inside. He wasn’t ready to face that so he partied even harder instead.

When he got to college at Mississippi State, he felt like a fish out of water. No one knew who he was and he decided he was going to get back on top fast. His partying intensified and soon he was once again known as the “big dog.” But the emptiness didn’t go away.

By the time Reggie was a sophomore, he was exhausted from trying to please everyone and trying to prove how cool he was. He decided to give Jesus a try.

“In my rookie year in Atlanta, the great fullback Bob Christian took me under his wing. He was a man of God and was well respected by everyone. He decided that he was going to teach me how to be a pro.  He also was going to teach me how to be a man of God and apply it to football.

“Bob’s example helped me realize that God placed me on earth to encourage everyone to be the best they can be.”

A good example came when Reggie was injured in training camp during the 2009 pre-season. In 10 seasons, he had suffered only one other injury and missed just four games. He was sure he’d bounce back this time, too, and was “heartbroken” when he learned he would be out for the season. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, he decided to figure out how he could still help the team. So he concentrated on helping the younger players by becoming a role model for how to handle adversity.

Reggie believes that God gave him the NFL platform to have a positive impact on kids.  He helps them realize that they can achieve anything they desire regardless of their situation. He says, “Life isn’t always fair, but whatever hand you’re dealt, just play it.”

Reggie is married to his high school sweetheart, Sheila. They have two children – daughter Kyla, six, and son Kavan, four.

Other Insightful Players include: Rashied Davis (Bears), Jerricho Cotchery (Jets), Aaron Kampman (Jaguars), Steve Grogan (Patriots), Roger Staubach (Cowboys), Devin McCourty (Patriots) and Jason McCourty (Titans) and Heath Evans (Saints), among others.

Chicago Bears wide-receiver Rashied Davis and his wife Dianna began Rashied Davis Charities in 2009, recognizing the same inspiration, preparation and discipline required to succeed in the NFL, is required to succeed in other areas of life.  Throughout the evening, Rashied Davis Charities will highlight the Saturday Place educational program.

The short-version of Rashied Davis’ Insightful Player story is available on InsightfulPlayer.com. The full-length version will appear in the Insightful Player book that will be published by Morgan-James Publishing this summer.

Following is an excerpt of Davis’ story on Insightful Player.com:

In his Insightful Player profile, Rashied Davis discusses how his father was murdered by gang members at a McDonald’s when he was just 8 years old; how he grew up around drugs, violence and poverty as one of nine children raised by his mom and aunt; and how his South Central L.A. background shaped him into the person he is today.

Rashied Davis Excerpt:

One of nine children raised by his mom and aunt, Rashied believes his background shaped him into the man he is. Growing up, he thought South Central L.A. was the whole world. “When I was a kid, all my idols were gang members. They sold drugs; they had everything that I thought I wanted. But I am here today because somewhere along the line I got some hope from somewhere and that hope, I feel, came from God,” he says.

From the seventh grade through high school he was bused to school in the San Fernando Valley.  At first, he begged his mother to let him go to school in the neighborhood but she wouldn’t budge. This turned out to be one of the biggest blessings of his life.

“I will always be very grateful to mom for knowing what was best for me. I was bused from poverty to an upper- and upper-middle class community. This experience really helped me see that the world where I grew up wasn’t the entire world,” he said.

The turning point for Rashied came when he was 18. He had graduated but hadn’t gone to college and didn’t have a job. He was living with his cousin. He got depressed wondering where his life was going. One day, he was driving home with his cousin and a friend. He was so frustrated he started speeding. He drove so fast that he frightened his passengers.

When he got home he ran up the stairs into his bathroom, slammed the door shut and started crying. He said, “At that moment I started praying to God, and told Him ‘I don’t know what I am supposed to be doing but it isn’t this; just help me find out where I’m supposed to be.’ And at that moment, things started to change. I had to move back home, which I didn’t want to do. I had a lot of anger inside; the neighborhood wasn’t safe, I was angry with the local police, angry at my family.  As I look back on it I know God was moving things around in my life.

“I started noticing God’s helping hand through my cousin. He had mentioned that we should sign up and play football at West Los Angeles Junior College.” Rashied felt like he was living a dream. He was astounded when he started getting letters from colleges stating they were interested in him. This helped Rashied develop a deep sense of pride. He began to realize that he could get a scholarship to a four-year university if he was good enough. Rashied said, “Thank God I wound up being good enough. That one weak moment in my cousin’s bathroom was instrumental in bringing me to where I am today.”

Other Insightful Players include: Jerricho Cotchery (Jets), Aaron Kampman (Jaguars), Steve Grogan (Patriots), Roger Staubach (Cowboys), Devin McCourty (Patriots) and Jason McCourty (Titans) and Reggie Kelly (Bengals), among others.
