About the Toscars
Every year after the Oscars are announced, the Toscars participants have only three weeks to make a short parody of the films, which are played live in Hollywood and judged live by our celebrity judges. It is a chance for the entertainment industry to have a good old-fashioned giggle.

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon,  “The Help” stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s,  who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.

Deeply moving, filled with poignancy, humor and hope, “The Help” is a timeless and universal story about the ability to create change.

Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, “The Help” is a provocative and inspiring look at what happens when a southern town’s unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.

“The Help” Takes You Back in Time to the 1960’s Inspires You to Create Change

"The Help" Movie

Not that I’m too quick to admit this but I am a child of the sixties, one who grew up in the south and experienced from the sidelines the lines that were drawn between us based on color. I can tell you that it took a lot of courage for anyone to cross the line to build a friendship with someone of another race.

My mother’s youngest sister was one of those people who, at that time in my young life, created change by accepting others for who they were, and gave me strength to join her in standing up for what was right and to not fear what others would think of me.

Fast forward to today, writing a blog post on the upcoming new feature from Dreamworks Studios and Participant Media called “The Help” opening on the 10th of August is somewhat bittersweet as I see where we were from my childhood and where we are today and where we need to go in the future. Here’s a clip with the director with some background on the upcoming feature:

The story is based on the #1 New York Times best-selling book, “The Help” and stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter,  Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s. These women build a very unlikely friendship based on a writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. Armed with the courage that their sisterhood has forged, these women stand together and make the town see that times are changing.

This movie is sure to evoke emotions from hope to humor and should inspire you and yours to create change that makes a difference for us all.

Life’s Complicated Especially When You’re Trying to Win Over Someone’s Heart

Mingle Media TV Network is proud to create an online community of web shows, both live and produced series that share different aspects of life.

In this new original web series, Kole’s Law, Terrence Kole finds himself pursuing the girl of his dreams while trying to establish his career as a lawyer. Of course, there are challenges to that when you have a slacker best friend and a sister who is kinda apathetic. You’ll love this delightful new web series and the characters who resemble people we all know and “love”…

Watch this funny video featuring Dan Jansen (Terrence’s roommate) in his Survivor audition tape, the and then click over to watch Season 1 of Kole’s Law on Mingle Media TV.

The series stars: Pete Kosmal, Rick Schuler, Jenny Schuler, and Rachel Dlugopolski and was written and directed by Branden Johnson.

You Don’t Have to Like Reality TV to Love This New Original Web Series

Okay, I have to admit, I am not a reality TV show consumer. Yes, Mingle Media TV produces LIVE web TV but not, reality TV. But I am a lover of TV and a lover of the hit TV show, Lost.

Imagine my surprise when at the Digital Hollywood conference last week, I met the creators of  “Lost on ‘da Jersey Shore” a smart, ridiculously funny mash-up of these two “hit” shows.

You don’t have to have watched the MTV series Jersey Shore to know who Snooki or the Situation is. Just watching TV, entertainment news or Dancing with the Stars will have introduced you to them at the very least.

More than likely, you’re like me, someone who misses the TV Show Lost and now see the stars on other shows, longing for a time when they were together or the network decides to bring them back in a reunion show….

Well, the creative minds behind Lost at ‘da Jersey Shore have done something even better, they’ve mashed the two story lines into one original web series that can tide our need for what happens next or who did what to whom into a fun series we can laugh out loud to. Jen Kucsak and Richard Salazar did an awesome job in making this series both in the story and creativity to the production.

We’re so sure you’ll appreciate the humor of Lost at ‘da Jersey Shore, that we begged, bargained and traded our interns for a chance to host this series on our network. (not really but we would have).

So kick back and click play and watch this original series now on Mingle Media TV. Be sure to follow them on Twitter and Facebook too!

If you have an original web series that you’d like us to host, promote and share with our growing audience at our Network – let us know.

3D TV – Web Series? Yup, Award-winning “Safety Geeks” Releases 1st 3D Comedy Series

If you haven’t been following what’s happening with video online – or the growing community of Web TV Series (oh, yeah… hello, all of us here at Mingle Media TV want you to go to sign up for our weekly reminders for our 30 LIVE web shows...) then you will want to start at the TOP with the “Safety Geeks: 3D” award-winning, scripted, web series.

Some background… Mingle Media TV met the cast of Safety Geeks on the Red Carpet at the Streamy Awards…

They hinted about their 3D production for season 1 and then invited Mingle Media TV to a LIVE press conference where we were able to SEE with our own eyes (using 3D glasses that are super cool looking – not like the ones from the 1950’s) the awesome FX of what 3D looks like in your living room… (Sony, Samsung, Panasonic – this is a shameful plug in hopes of sponsorship)… All I can say is Christmas can’t come soon enough, I want a 3D HD TV (my son says 72″ but I don’t think I can sell him for enough money to pay for that model).

Here’s some background on how they made the 3D web series along with our reaction to viewing it during the press conference yesterday:

Now, if you still haven’t seen the Safety Geeks series… we’re gonna make it easy for you -> here’s Season 1 Episode 1 entitled: Sexy Lap Dance of Doom!

Here’s the back story: Produced by Dave Beeler and Tom Konkle, “Safety Geeks: 3D”, follows the comic adventures of a semi-elite force of safety experts; the P.O.S.H. (Professional Occupational Safety Hazard) team who is obsessed with making the world along with bits of Canada a safer place. The CSI-like team investigates accidents to find out what went wrong and who is to blame, however, their involvement causes far more damage than they prevent, leaving a trail of chaos and destruction in their wake.

Be sure to visit http://www.yabazam.com to download your 3D version of this hysterically funny web series today!
