About Monster University
Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). For any of you Stan Lee fans (yes, I am a big comic geek, all of us at MMTVN are) you’ll be excited to know that Marvel Entertainment and Paramount Pictures has a big surprise for you (us) this Friday – THOR will be in theaters.
Thor debuted in Silver Age comics as a character is based on Thor from Norse mythology.
Journey Into Mystery Thor Issue #83 August 1962
THOR has starred in several series from Journey into Mystery issue #83 in August 1962 to being a member of the superhero team known as the Avengers.
About the theatrical release of THOR
The epic adventure THOR spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the mystical realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor is banished to Earth where he is forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Earth, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero.
It was so great to see Stan Lee on the red carpet (and I can’t wait to see his cameo in the movie) and in the THOR Dr. Pepper commercial earlier this year.
Walking the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre we saw one of my favorite actresses, Jennifer Grey and her husband Clark Gregg, who looked amazing! Kenneth Branagh, director of THOR was there and looked as dashing as ever. (check out our complete photo library on Flickr).
Chris Hemsworth AKA THOR
The star of THOR, actor, Chris Hemsworth, who is 6’3″ and from Melbourne, Australia was there. He really sells the character of THOR and audiences will be amazed at this movie. I loved this photo with him on the red carpet with his character behind.
For all you Star Trek (2009) fans, you may recognize him as George Kirk, who saves the day at the beginning of the movie. He’s also in the upcoming Avengers movie as of course the character of THOR (now filming).
THOR’s love interest Jane Foster (from the original comic story) is played by Natalie Portman who we did not see on the red carpet last night… but we did see her at the Oscars Red Carpet earlier this year… she was spotted in New York however and it’s not unreasonable to skip the 5 hour flight for the premiere as she is expecting her baby in the coming weeks.
You can watch a clip here (this is the 2nd Official Trailer for the movie)
We did also see Anthony Hopkins who plays Odin and the lovely Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis along with Jaime Alexander and Rene Russo who looked amazing as well.
ABOUT the FILM: Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment Present a Marvel Studios Production. “Thor” is a Kenneth Branagh Film, Co‐Producers Craig Kyle, Victoria Alonso, Executive Producers: Alan Fine, Stan Lee, David Maisel, Patricia Whitcher, Louis D’Esposito, Produced by Kevin Feige, Story by J. Michael Straczynski and Mark Protosevich, Screenplay by Ashley Edward, Miller & Zack Stentz and Don Payne, Directed by Kenneth Branagh.
