About “THE INEVITABLE DEFEAT OF MISTER & PETE”
The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete is a beautifully observed and tremendously moving film about salvation through friendship and the way transformation sometimes can happen just by holding on long enough. During a sweltering summer in New York City, 13-year-old Mister’s (Skylan Brooks) hard-living mother (Jennifer Hudson) is apprehended by the police, leaving the boy and nine-year-old Pete (Ethan Dizon) alone to forage for food while dodging child protective services and the destructive scenarios of the Brooklyn projects. Faced with more than any child can be expected to bear, the resourceful Mister nevertheless feels he is an unstoppable force against seemingly unmovable obstacles. But what really keeps the pair in the survival game is much more Mister’s vulnerability than his larger-than-life attitude. Visit www.MisterandPeteMovie.com for film information & updates. The X Factor’s Paula Abdul Sizzles in the Latest emmy Magazine

We’ve all danced to Paula’s “Straight Up” music video and watched her on American Idol give hope to artists pouring out their hearts in auditions and during competitions. She’s the one we wished would stay instead of Simon Cowell.

Good News! She’s back and with Simon on The X Factor this fall on FOX.

In the November Issue of emmy® MagazinePaula Abdul talks about joining “The X Factor,” and how she’s excited to be on the show even gives us some insight into her relationship with fellow judge and executive producer Simon Cowell. Don’t worry, she’s in a good place and even reflects on her “American Idol” departure in the article.

If you love hearing about a true Hollywood story, you’ll love reading about how Paul started out as a Laker Girl dance and choreographer during her freshman year in college. That’s when Lake fans Marlon and Jackie Jackson asked her to choreograph the Jacksons’ “Torture” video (1984) which led to her becoming the “go-to” choreographer for the Jackson family.

Read more about Paula and for all you fashionistas out there check out some of the photos of her in the magazine wearing Balmain, Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy and Christian Louboutin to name a few.

The latest issue of emmy® Magazine, the official publication of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, is available at newsstands now (if you can’t find it locally – get it here online). You’ll love seeing highlights include profiles on actor Michael J. Fox, OWN’s  “Most Valuable Players,” Lisa Kudrow’s “Web Therapy,” actor-writer-producer-standup comic Whitney Cummings, the FX series “Rescue Me,” “Torchwood: Miracle Day” star Bill Pullman, Fran Drescher’s series “Happily Divorced,” “The Amazing Race” host Phil Keoghan,  and “Entourage” creator-executive producerDoug Ellin. Also included in the latest issue are features on Spanish-language network “Univision,” director Beth McCarthy-Miller, “Rookie Blue” star Travis Milne, HLN’s Nancy Grace, excerpts from the Television Academy’s Archive of American Television’s interview with Dick Clark, a feature on music-competition crafts, a profile on the University of Southern California’s new course on the significance of celebrity, and many more.

One last extra highlight that we’d like to share is on Michael J. Fox and how acting has become easier in recent years despite the loss of physical subtlety since being diagnosed with the neurological disorder Parkinson’s – “I don’t have the elasticity of expression. I don’t have a lot of tools that I used to use. But other things have come into those spaces. I have a stillness now in spite of the motion. I have a kind of internal gravitas and perspective that makes me as an actor consider my reactions and consider my course through a scene in a way that I wouldn’t have previously…It’s the gift that keeps on taking, but it has been a gift.”
