Behind The Red Carpet (Day 5) at GBK’S 2011 Oscar Gift Lounge

Two days left until the big day, Kristyn Burtt is at The W Hotel in Hollywood for the exclusive GBK Oscars gifting suite, talking to some familiar faces, the big question? “What Are You Doing This Sunday?”
Mingle Media TV Network and Kristyn Burtt were invited to cover the 2011 Oscar’s Gift Lounge from GBK Productions, one of the leading gifting suite production companies. GBK honored the presenters and nominees of the 2011 Academy Awards this year at their lounge at W Hotel in Hollywood and offered its exclusive list of invited celebrities, VIPs, and media an opportunity to enjoy a luxurious environment with gifts, refreshments, charity fundraising and a unique experience provided by Zamani Retreat Kempinski Eight-night vacation plus African Safari Trip with an additional three-nights in Serengeti National Park, Simmons Beautyrest Mattress, Kefty Home Workout Machine, Mp3 Players, In-home FarNorth Infrared Sauna with installation, 020608 Tears of Bleu Jeans and William Rast Sunglasses and others. We love covering the GBK events because they give back to the community and this year the President of GBK Productions, Gavin B. Keilly, will donate proceeds to A New Way of Life, the American Red Cross, City of Hope and other charities. You’re Invited: Start Planning Your Oscar Viewing Party Recipe Ideas, Ballots and More

If you’re not going to an official Oscar Night America viewing party (we wrote about them here) or one of the many “official parties” here in Hollywood like the  21st Annual “Night of 100 Stars”, why not get started and create your own special viewing party with friends and family?

Now here’s a video from Katie Lee who demonstrates some of the drink concoctions that will be served using the official champagne of the Oscars: Moet.

Here are the recipes:

Moet’s Silver Screen Punch

1 (6 ounce) can pink lemonade concentrate, partially thawed
8 ounces pineapple juice
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
1 cup vodka
1 bottle Moët & Chandon
1 pineapple, cut into rings and frozen

In a blender, combine pink lemonade concentrate, pineapple juice, strawberries, and ginger. Blend until smooth. Pour into a punch bowl. Add vodka and stir to combine. Just before serving, pour in Moet. Add frozen pineapple rings.

The Moet Starlet

4 mint leaves
3/4 ounce good-quality silver tequila
1/2 ounce elderflower liqueur
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1/2 ounce lime juice
3 ounces Moët & Chandon
1 slice starfruit

In a cocktail shaker combine simple syrup, lime juice, and mint leaves. Use a muddler or a wooden spoon to muddle the mint leaves. Add tequila and elderflower liqueur and fill shaker with ice. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into a glass and top with Moet. Garnish with starfruit.

Many of you may wonder what fabulous foods would work well with these drinks? Well, here are a few of the menu suggestions from the official Oscar site: Truffle Grilled Cheese sandwiches, Deviled Eggs with Caviar, Stuffed Mushrooms, Chili Orange Kettle Corn, Goat Cheese Spread and Oven-fried Chicken Satay.

Now if you have some special Oscar Night foodie ideas – why not share them with us here on this blog.

We’re excited to have Kristyn Burtt, well-known for her show ‘The Web Files’ and producer/videographer JD Piche as team MMTVN for the Oscars. Both JD and Kristyn have covered lots of red carpets together and make a great team.

Here’s Kristyn and JD behind the scene’s – you can tell the next stop was going to be their beds after having a 3 AM call time:

What’s even more exciting is that our team’s coverage has been picked up by the Oscar’s! Kristyn’s blog – the Red Carpet Closet was featured on the Oscar’s Facebook Page – she captured the event from start to finish of the Nominee Luncheon! http://redcarpetcloset.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-would-like-to-thank-a…

What’s even more exciting is that Kristyn and JD are being treated like celebrities and getting outfitted by designers for Oscar’s week. Kristyn is being outfitted by Chagoury Couture where A-listers go for red carpet dresses (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HQP7K2mVXs) and JD is getting fitted for a Tuxedo by a locally owned formal wear outfitter: Elite Tuxedo in Westwood.

Starting next week, Kristyn and JD will be covering Oscar events such as the preview of the Governor’s Ball, The Food and Beverage Preview, Gifting Suites, Director’s Award Show, Makeup Symposium and the MTVu Oscar Correspondent competition all leading up to the big day on Sunday the 27th of February.
