Mingle Media TV and Red Carpet Report’s host, Ashley Bornancin, were invited to visit the set of “Perception” recently so we could catch up with the cast and observe what happens at the Walt Disney Studios set in Burbank during production of the series. We got to speak with Eric McCormack, Rachael Leigh Cook, special guest star for Season Two Scott Wolf, Kelly Rowan and Arjay Smith and watch the Season Two premiere episode which will air tomorrow at 10 PM on TNT.

About Perception

TNT’s hit drama Perception, starring Emmy® and Screen Actors Guild Award® winner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace, Who Is Clark Rockefeller?), is set to return for its exciting second season on Tuesday, June 25, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). In Perception, McCormack plays Dr. Daniel Pierce, a unique and eccentric neuroscience professor whose paranoid schizophrenia helps him solve crimes for the FBI. Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That) co-stars as FBI agent and former student Kate Moretti, who recruits Pierce to help her with her toughest cases. Unlike her colleagues, Kate is willing to look past Daniel’s peculiarities.

What to Look for in Season II
As the second season of Perception opens, Pierce’s personal life is even more complicated than usual. He finds it difficult to walk away from his imaginary friendship with Natalie Vincent, but he must do so in order to embark on a romance with his doctor, Caroline Newsome – both played by Kelly Rowan (The O.C.). Award-winning actor LeVar Burton (Roots, Star Trek: The Next Generation) returns in season two as Pierce’s best friend, Paul Haley, who serves as dean at the university. Perception also stars Arjay Smith (The Day After Tomorrow) as Max Lewicki, who serves as Pierce’s teaching assistant whose primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task.

Also in season two, special guest star Scott Wolf (Party of Five, V, Everwood) joins the cast as Donnie, Kate’s soon-to-be ex-husband. A charismatic, fast-rising Assistant U.S. Attorney who recently transferred back to Chicago, Donnie seems less concerned with doing what’s right than with doing what’s right for Donnie. While he claims his transfer back to Chicago was completely random, it’s clear he has a hidden agenda involving Kate.

About Monster University
Ever since college-bound Mike Wazowski (voice of Billy Crystal) was a little monster, he has dreamed of becoming a Scarer—and he knows better than anyone that the best Scarers come from Monsters University (MU). But during his first semester at MU, Mike’s plans are derailed when he crosses paths with hotshot James P. Sullivan, “Sulley” (voice of John Goodman), a natural-born Scarer. The pair’s out-of-control competitive spirit gets them both kicked out of the University’s elite Scare Program. To make matters worse, they realize they will have to work together, along with an odd bunch of misfit monsters, if they ever hope to make things right. Screaming with laughter and oozing with heart, Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters University” is directed by Dan Scanlon (“Cars,” “Mater and the Ghostlight,” “Tracy”), produced by Kori Rae (“Up,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.”) and features music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and award-winning composer Randy Newman (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Toy Story 3”). It’s Getting Harder for Smaller Film Productions to Make It

Hollywood legends warn of film industry ‘implosion’ (via AFP)

Disney Announces New Dates for Saving Mr. Banks, Muppets Most Wanted, Planes, Tomorrowland and more

Walt Disney Studios

Walt Disney Studios

SAVING MR. BANKS

SAVING MR. BANKS (Disney)  is inspired by the extraordinary, untold backstory of how Disney’s classic “Mary Poppins” made it to the screen and the testy relationship that the legendary Walt Disney had with author P.L. Travers that almost derailed it.

  • Opens 12/13/13 limited and  12/20/13 wide playdate
  • Genre:    Drama  Rating:    PG-13
  • Cast:   Emma Thompson, Tom Hanks, Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Bradley Whitford, Annie Rose Buckley, Ruth Wilson, B.J. Novak, Rachel Griffiths, Kathy Baker
  • Director:   John Lee Hancock
  • Producers: Alison Owen, Ian Collie, Philip Steuer
  • Executive Producers:  Paul Trijbits, Andrew Mason, Troy Lum, Christine Langan
  • Written by:  Kelly Marcel and Sue Smith

When Walt Disney’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation.

For those two short weeks in 1961, Walt Disney pulls out all the stops. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers, Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn’t budge. He soon begins to watch helplessly as Travers becomes increasingly immovable and the rights begin to move further away from his grasp.

It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

MUPPETS MOST WANTED

  • MUPPETS MOST WANTED is the final title of the follow-up to 2011’s THE MUPPETS. The previously announced 3/21/14 wide playdate is unchanged

  • Director:  James Bobin
  • Producers: David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman

  • Screenplay by:   James Bobin, Nicholas Stoller

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon.

Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” is directed by James Bobin and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Bobin co-wrote the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller, who is also executive producer with John Scotti.
