Oscar Winning Screenwriter, Pamela Wallace and Mingle Media TV CEO, Stephanie Piche, Team Up and Use Crowdfunding to Produce “The Big O” a Twofer Web Series and Feature Film

MMTVN is pleased to announce that CEO, Stephanie Piche, will be teaming up with Oscar-winning screenwriter, Pamela Wallace, to produce a series based on a provocative look into women’s sex lives, including the secrets they don’t tell their best friends. The fundraising campaign will kick off on IndieGoGo and offer perks to brands as well as individuals.

Online media and interactive web TV network company, Mingle Media TV (MMTVN) announced today that CEO and Executive Producer, Stephanie Piche and Academy Award winning screenwriter, Pamela Wallace, are producing a new (twofer) digital web series and feature film entitled “The Big O,” a sexually focused, psychological drama aimed at the adult female market with an emphasis on the coveted 18-34 year-old demographic.

The Big O Series Teaser Poster
The Big O is a provocative, no-holds-barred look into women’s sex lives, including the secrets they don’t even tell their best friends. The first season will have a story arc that blends all ten, ten-minute episodes together which will be released on a weekly basis as a web series and will also be released as a 100 minute long feature film for distribution.

The Big O’s lead character is a beautiful female therapist in her early 40′s who helps women with their complex intimacy issues along with her younger attractive male sex surrogate colleague who will help the “clients” work through their phobias and inhibitions. The “clients” are women who have issues ranging from lack of sexual desire, inability to be emotionally intimate, or inability to have an orgasm and are complicated by, and sometimes caused by, the men – or occasionally women — in their lives. All of the characters are relatable to the female audience with the tone of the episodes being extremely up close and personal, as the  ”therapist” has frank and insightful exchanges with her clients one-on-one or two-on-one when the “sex surrogate” is involved, giving the series a compelling intensity. Despite the sometimes-sensitive subject matter, the series is imbued with hope and an empowering approach to women while having those hooks to keep the audience guessing about what’s going to happen next. It is the plan of the producers to create several seasons of this series as the story opportunities are endless.

Crowdfunding and Brand Sponsorships

The Big O producing team will be launching an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign at Noon Pacific on Tuesday, May 7th and will offer two types of perks including perks for brand sponsorship with exposure during the production process utilizing the existing social reach of the MMTVN network who has over 12K fans on their Facebook communities, over 25K Twitter followers and are a YouTube Partner with over 3 million views. The Big O team are looking for brands who want to reach the female audience from travel and hospitality, ready-to-wear retailers, jewelers, restaurants, florists, auto manufacturers, home décor, technology, mobile communications as well as hair and beauty brands. By giving supporters and fans behind the scenes access to the production from pre to post, The Big O social / transmedia story tellers can authentically share how the brands tie into the support of making this project possible from wardrobe, set dressing, to hair and makeup and include call-to-actions (CTAs), for sharing links, discounts, and other benefits to fans.

Why Crowdfund?

Traditionally, a screenwriter would shop a script and sell it – in fact, that is what Ms. Wallace has done in the past with 19 screenplays that have been made into movies, except for this story, she wants to keep this an “Indie” project as its topic is so sensitive in nature. She has put a lot of work into outlining the story arcs, creating characters, envisioning the scenes and vetting the “therapy” aspect with script consultant Dr. Kimberley Taylor, Psy.D, clinical psychologist and prominent relationship therapist, to make sure it is an accurate portrayal of how to work out the challenges women face. Ms. Wallace is a master storyteller, she’s proven it over and over and has wanted to create a digital series utilizing transmedia storytelling where the subject of sex, love and intimacy can be explored without censorship and constriction of traditional television / cable boundaries. Plus, her idea to create this series with an overall story arc so all the episodes tie together as a feature for distribution is unique for this type of new media project.

The team is in hopes of attracting top “named” talent from the Director to the lead actress and actor along with the other cast members (they have some amazing women they want to work with on their short list).

MMTVN’s team hopes to start casting by middle of July, get their location scouted/secured, have key crew on board and start shooting sometime in August or early September. They can’t guarantee dates at this point as there are variables including director and cast schedules still to be named, but they will keep their blog and IndieGoGo campaign updated on their progress on a weekly basis.

Our Interview with Sara Paxton About Dancing, Romance and Her New Musical “Lovestruck: The Musical” Premiering on ABC Family

Reblogged from the Red Carpet Report

Mingle Media TV’s Red Carpet Report got to interview Sara Paxton (“Aquamarine”) about her role as Mirabella, the daughter of Harper (portrayed by Jane Seymour AND Chelsea Kane) in the new original movie musical “Lovestruck: The Musical” premiering Sunday April 21, 8:00-10:00 p.m., ET/PT on ABC Family.

Our Interview with Sara

We asked Sara why she wanted to do this movie? She told us that she enjoyed doing musical theatre growing up but never a musical so this would be her first opportunity and she really wanted to do it.

She told us that she felt her character (daughter of Jane Seymour’s character and star of the dance company her mother runs) was relatable to girls and their relationships with their mothers. In the movie Sara’s mom doesn’t want her to give up her dream by quitting and getting married but it turns out it’s really her Mom’s dream not hers. She told us that every girl will deals with some aspect of this as it’s hard for a Mom to realize her daughter is growing up and making her own decisions.

The movie was shot in Pittsburgh and Sara said she loves to travel as part of her job and explore new cities and she loved Pittsburgh.

We asked her how it was to work with Jane Seymour? She told us that Jane was so grew, amazing and impressive as an actress and dancer. She was also very maternal (being the mother of six) and she kept reminding us to stretch beforehand.

Talking about the dancing, she said that Michael Rooney (“(500) Days of Summer,” “The Muppets” and choreographer of music videos for Fatboy Slim and Gnarls Barkley’s “Run,” for which he won his 5th MTV Award for Best Choreography) expected the best from the cast, the routines were really hard but she said that she considers her talent to be actress, singer then dancer.

Sara told us she was like this character in that she would follow her heart but she hasn’t found the right person yet.

Finally, we asked what was her favorite number in the musical? That was easy, it was Everlasting Love with 25 cast members dancing and they did it all in one take.

Oh, we did ask if she was going to follow in Jane Seymour’s footsteps and be on a future Dancing with the Stars and she just laughed.

About “Lovestruck: The Musical”

“Lovestruck: The Musical” tells the story of Harper (Jane Seymour), one of the best dancers to hit Broadway. But an injury caused her to leave the spotlight, become a choreographer, and raise her daughter, Mirabella (Sara Paxton). When Mirabella, the star of Harper’s next big production, decides to quit the show to get married, her mother is determined to put a stop to the wedding and show Mirabella that she cannot give up her career for love, especially to marry playboy Marco (Alexander DiPersia). After the long flight to the Italian wedding site, Harper takes a swig from a strange bottle that is supposed to dull the pain of an old dance injury. Instead, the elixir magically turns Harper 30 years younger.

Meet the “Chuck Norris of Love” in this New Short with Lou Diamond Phillips the

Reposted from our Red Carpet Report site.

We watch a lot of indie films, shorts, and webseries at Mingle Media TV and love to share and support these projects with our audience. First, we did rush to look at it because we are fans of Lou Diamond Phillips, before we even saw the premise of the story which is typical, unless you don’t know the cast and you spend time looking at the rest of the info to see what it’s about.

We clicked on the link and watched it on YouTube. We’ve embedded it here for you below.

After watching, we wanted to thank the EP and tell them we would share this – but most of all, we read the rest of the story…

Writing for the Actor

“Lucy in the Sky with Diamond” was written for LDP and was sent to him while he was working on the new TV show Longmire (another show we love). Lou was pretty flattered by the gesture of getting a script written just for him and so he said “yes” to the project. (The power of asking for the order – if you don’t you will never get it).

Chuck Norris of Love

You’ve seen the jokes about Chuck Norris…

  • Chuck Norris’ body guard is protected by Chuck Norris
  • Chuck Norris doesn’t call the wrong number. You answer the wrong phone.
  • Chuck Norris has already been to Mars; that’s why there are no signs of life.
  • Chuck Norris and Superman once fought each other on a bet. The loser had to start wearing his underwear on the outside of his pants.
  • Chuck Norris can strangle you with a cordless phone.

… and so on. LDP is a man-made of unique blending of ancestries with this father being Scots-Irish and Native American (Cherokee) and his mother of Filipino-Chicnese descent. He has played some very memorable roles in some great movies like La Bamba, Young Guns, Courage Under Fire, Stand and Deliver and oozes cool on and off-screen. We’ve (Red Carpet Report) have interviewed him and find him charming in person, with his family and irresistible. Hence why we watched the short before we read what it was about.

Now LDP is not the only one in this comedy short. It also stars John Patrick Jordan (American Pie, Mad Men) and Brian Thomas Smith (The Big Bang Theory, Happy Endings).

If you haven’t clicked play yet… what are you waiting for? If you have, why haven’t you shared this yet? Oh, good, thanks. We appreciate it. So does Joey (writer/director) of this piece – be sure to do it for Joey too.

Writer and Director Joey Boukadakis graduated from the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, as well as the Masters of Professional Writing Program, also at USC. He’s written screenplays for Disney and MGM studios and his music videos have played on MTV, VH1, BET, and CMT. His films have screened at Sundance, Vail, San Diego, Boston, St. Louis, Miami, Atlanta, HollyShorts, CineVegas, Palm Springs International, and MethodFest film festivals. About Hallmark Hall of Fame and “The Makeover”
Hallmark Hall of Fame has been creating original films designed to entertain, enlighten and inspire for over sixty years. Hannah Higgins (Julia Stiles) is a smart, driven Boston consultant. To advance the cause of education reform, she runs for Congress – but loses, big‐time. Voters just can’t warm to her. For the next election she and her business partner, Colleen Pickering (Camryn Manheim), recruit beer salesman Elliot Doolittle (David Walton). He speaks with a thick South Boston accent, has an unruly beard, and dresses super‐informally.
Hannah takes Elliot on as a “project.” She tries to get him to speak like a gentleman, dress like a gentleman, comport himself like a gentleman. As Elliot becomes more “presentable” and Hannah becomes less formal, could this turn in to a love match made in electoral Heaven? Filmed on location in Boston, Massachusetts.

Jimmy Kimmel LIVE Changes Times, Will Capture More Late Night Viewers with His “Family Business” and Fresh Entertainment

Jimmy Kimmel

If you’re asleep by midnight, then you’ve missed one of the best kept secrets of Late Night TV, Jimmy Kimmel. We’re happy to tell you that times have changed. That’s right, he’ll be on earlier in a new time slot starting January 8th at 11:35 PM.

Like other late night shows, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” has celebrity guests, comedy skits and live music but is also in the “family business” yes, that’s right, Jimmy employs some of his family including his cousin Sal, his parents and Aunt Chippy. Jimmy’s also got his childhood best friend, Cleto Escobedo, as the bandleader, with Cleto’s dad on saxophone.

Meet Aunt Chippy

Our Interview with Jimmy

We got to chat with Jimmy about his upcoming new time change and here are some of the questions we asked:

Operator: Your next question comes from Stephanie Piche from Red Carpet Report.

Stephanie Piche: Hey, Jimmy. How are you?

Jimmy Kimmel: Good, how you doing?

Stephanie Piche: Good. Everyone ahead of me today asked all my prepped questions–

Jimmy Kimmel: OK.

Stephanie Piche: – so I’m going to ask – well, actually, one of my staff said to ask, because I was ran out of questions, “if your new show time doesn’t work, are you going to move to a podcast?”

Jimmy Kimmel: Let’s hope not.

Stephanie Piche: No? (kidding / laugher) –

Jimmy Kimmel: But I won’t rule anything out.

Stephanie Piche: Perfect. How long do you see you doing your show for? Are you going to be a lifer?

Jimmy Kimmel: No, I’m not going to be one of those guys that they have to drag off the stage. I mean, I look at it now and I think, you know, if we were lucky enough to be able to do another 10 years, I would be very happy with that. But with that said, you never know. You get there, I mean, and there seems to be some addiction that takes hold and people are unwilling to give these jobs up. But, you know, sometimes I do think about being able to just relax and read the sports page in its entirety again.

Stephanie Piche: Great. OK. And is there someone who you look forward to interviewing that you haven’t done so yet?

Jimmy Kimmel: Oh, there’s a lot of people. I mean, but at the top of my list probably Bill Murray, Steve Martin, these are guys that, you know, I’ve admired for a long time and who are great talk-show guests who’ve never been to the show. So, I – if I had to name two, that would be them.

Stephanie Piche: Well, maybe Bill will with “Ghost Busters” coming around again.

Jimmy Kimmel: Yes, we’ll see.

Stephanie Piche: OK, good luck.

Jimmy Kimmel: All right. Thanks, (Stephanie).

We really liked being part of the press talking to Jimmy, he was very genuine and really listened and gave good answers to the tough questions about Late Night Talk Show host feuds… you can google that stuff – we like to stick to the positive and tell you that we recommend “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and now that the show is on at 11:35 pm starting the 8th of January, you can tune in to some fresh comedy and entertainment like we will be doing.

Tomorrow is the Season Opener for the New “The Bachelor” on ABC Now You Can Love Monday’s Again!

Sean Lowe, The Bachelor

Sean Lowe, The Bachelor

Ladies, get ready for another exciting season of The Bachelor.

Most of us remember, heart-throb, Sean Lowe from the season of The Bachelorette with Emily Maynard, who passed on “the perfect man” eliminating him and shocking not only Sean but all of us watching.

Now, it’s Sean’s turn to find love and we believe he has his hands full with this group of single ladies.

We’re excited to say that we got to speak with Sean about the next edition of ABC’s hit romance reality series, “The Bachelor,” and want to recommend that our Red Carpet Report fans tune in on Monday, January 7, 2013 for the season opener… it’s one you won’t want to miss!

In case this is your first time hearing about the new Bachelor, Sean, here’s some deets: he’s 29 years old and is a successful entrepreneur who lives in Dallas. He’s very close to his family, and a true Southern gentleman. He’d also like to have a big family and is very focused on family values as demonstrated by his relationships with his parents and sister.  Sean is 6’3″ and attended Kansas State on a full football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He started in finance and then moved into the insurance industry but now he is the proud owner of an upscale, custom furniture business. Sean loves to camp, wakeboard, dance, be outdoors, go to concerts and have fun with his two dogs, Lola and Ellie.

First Impressions – The Bachelor

Now that you know something about him, you can size up the single ladies as they try to make their BEST first impression Sean. But before you do, check out this fun video of past Bachelor shows and some of the memorable first impressions that happened on the show.

Our Chat with Sean

Operator: Your next question comes from Stephanie Piche from Red Carpet Report.

Stephanie Piche: Hi Sean. I really enjoyed getting to know you on The Bachelorette, and we’re excited to see what happens this season. My question for you is, how many rules are you going to break this time around?

Sean Lowe: You know, I’ve never been one to really conform to rules that are set, so you’re going to see me break quite a few rules, and I did The Bachelor for a specific reason. It was to find the love of my life, and I feel like there were certain points in the season where I couldn’t follow the rules. I had to follow my heart as opposed to the rules, and so I think you’re going to see me breaking quite a few rules this season.

Stephanie Piche: OK. And, what’s the best advice your parents have given you about participating in this process?

Sean Lowe: You know, my parents know me better than anyone else, and they told me, just be yourself and stay true to who you are and then, you know, of course, stay in prayer and everything’s going to work itself out. And, they trust me and they trust my judgment and so they knew that, you know, I would follow my heart, and they knew that I’d represent the family well and ultimately make the decision that’s best for me.

Stephanie Piche: Great… And, one quick question. What’s your pet peeve, stuff that you’ve found with this whole process with these ladies?

Sean Lowe: Oh, biggest pet peeve. Like I said earlier, it’s almost inevitable for this to happen, but it always irritated me when girls would get caught up more in the drama and then they would lose focus on the real reason that they were there. And, you know, of course, I want them to focus on the relationship that we’re developing and not focus on all the other BS going on with the other women in the house.

Stephanie Piche: Of course. Thanks so much and good luck.

Sean Lowe: Thank you very much.

ABC’s Bachelorette Delivers Best of The True Love Story With Wedding Sunday Night!

What was your something borrowed, something blue?

What was your something borrowed, something blue?

Earlier this week, Stephanie, from our Red Carpet Report team, got to speak with ABC’s Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and now husband , J.P. Rosenbaum about their wedding (which will be aired on Sunday, December 16th at 9 PM Eastern / 8 PM Central on ABC).

We still remember the first time ABC aired the first “Bachelor/Bachelorette” show and as true romantics, we have always hoped each ending would be a truly happy ending and after a close call when Ashley was on the 15th edition of “The Bachelor” with Brad Womack, it was lucky number seven of “The Bachelorette”  that Ashley met J.P. and found true love.

Reality TV or Real Deal?

J.P. and Ashley are the real deal. They get how relationships work, because they work at it. Anyone who has been in a successful relationship that has failed or not, know there are perils to any union and making and keeping that love commitment to each other is how things work out for any couple who truly want it to work.

Sunday’s Broadcast

We’ll get to see  some of the past Bachelor and Bachelorette couples, family members and friends who were invited to help Ashley and J.P. celebrate their fairytale wedding. Click here to see more photos from the event on ABC.

Here’s part of the conversation we had with Ashley and J.P. about their new life together:

Operator: Your next question comes from Stephanie from Red Carpet Report.

Stephanie:  Hi guys, congratulations.

Ashley: Thank you.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):   I just want you to know I was crying the whole time.

 Ashley:  Wait ’til Sunday.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):   I’m already crying now, are you kidding?  I’m so happy for you guys.

 J. P.:   If my mom can make it through, you can make it through it.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report): Yes OK, alright I’ll try.  I’ll just have a box of Kleenex.

Ashley:  Yes, there you go.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):  What was your something borrowed, something blue?

Ashley:  Oh my goodness, I didn’t do that!

J. P.:   Well we didn’t have any of that.  So Mindy had given Ashley, babe you know those things that you put on the bottom of your shoes?

Ashley:  I know baby but I only put them after the wedding.

J. P.:   Oh but they don’t need to know that.

Ashley:   No, you know what, I didn’t do that.  I don’t know why.  I’m hoping it’s not bad luck.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):   It’s just an old wives tale, don’t worry about it.

J. P.:      See babe?

Ashley:  I know, but I should have done it.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):  Well that’s alright.  What is your favorite thing to do together?

Ashley:  Oh my goodness.  You know my answer babe.

 J. P.:  Yes.  It’s going to be a boring answer for all of you but—

J. P.:   Sitting home alone, ordering in and sleeping, laying on the couch.  Fortunately we have a really good excuse to do that any weekend we want.  Because once we moved to Princeton, we’re now at least an hour, hour and fifteen minutes away from anything we want to do, whether it’s hanging out with friends and family in the city, whether it’s go to the shore, go to Philly.  So we always have an excuse, oh it’s an hour‑and‑a‑half away.  We can just stay home and hang out on the couch.  I think we really love to do it anyway, so it’s not so much an excuse but. . .

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):  No that’s awesome, that’s good.

Ashley: It sounds terrible!

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):   No.

Ashley:    It sounds terrible, we’re like the grandma and grandpa over here.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):  And one last question, so what is, any words of wisdom that you have for any future Bachelor/Bachelorette couples that may really find love like you guys have?  How to make it through?

Ashley:  I think the biggest thing is just to be true to yourself and to be true to the way you feel.  Don’t force anything.  Just let whatever’s going to happen, happen.  I don’t know if that’s going to make more successful couples or less, but I just think it’s important from the beginning to just always be true to yourself.

J. P.:   Mm-hmm.

Ashley:  And to not force anything.

J. P.:   Yes.  Over time you are who you are, and over time I think, whether or not it’s the real you or not, when you’re being filmed and on TV, over time the real you is going to come out and it’s at that point—

Ashley:  Right.

J. P.   ‑‑where you’re either going to mesh well as a couple or you’re not.  You know, there’s no, just like in life—

Ashley:  Exactly.

J. P.:   There’s no magic, there’s no magic formula to it, it’s just you work or you don’t.  And we were fortunate enough that we absolutely work.

Ashley:   I also think it’s because we were still ourselves while we were filming, so we got to know the real Ashley and the real J.P. while we were filming.  It wasn’t after the show that we learned things about each other.  You know?  It was during the time.  So we had more time than most people.

J. P.:   I learned a lot about you after the show, I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Ashley:  Oh alright, go for it.  Lay it on me babe!

J. P.:  No it’s a different, it’s a different learning.  Living with someone for, for even three weeks to a month after the show, you learn—

Ashley:  Right.

J. P.:   About somebody, and that’s when we said, you know, our real relationship started, was when we got back and started living together.

Ashley:  Right, right, right.

J. P.:  It’s just like real life, you know.

Stephanie (Red Carpet Report):    Great.  Thank you.  Good luck to you guys, you deserve it.

J. P.:   Thank you.

Ashley:  Thank you so much.  Thank you.
